“Digital design helps us to stretch the limits of reality, opening the door to a dynamic virtual world where we can explore and create new colour possibilities. With trends in gaming, the expanding popularity of the metaverse and rising artistic community in the digital space PANTONE 17-3938 Very Peri illustrates the fusion of modern life and how colour trends in the digital world are being manifested in the physical world and vice versa.” –Pantone
17-3938 Very Peri Purple has been named Pantone’s colour of the year for 2022. In an all-time first, Pantone hasn’t selected a colour from their pre-existing library, but rather, composed an entirely new shade. This decision coincides with the meaning behind the colour as it stands to represent “an empowering mix of newness”.

After 2 challenging years during the global pandemic, 17-3938 Very Peri Purple aims to celebrate an exciting emergence into an innovative digital future. A future where personal inventiveness and creativity is encouraged. A future where we are already witnessing an inspiring thrust towards a global transformation, and an original approach to everything. To ART3, this colour represents all that we know true of the Metaverse and so we have decided to ‘Go Very Peri’ as part of our website redesign, launched today.
“We launched ART3 with a mission to explore photography in the Metaverse, and are committed to evolving how we do this to help lens-based artists embrace the opportunities that WEB3 offers them, and help collectors to discover unique artists entering the space.
The website redesign launched today is the first step of our next evolution – and Pantone’s colour of the Metaverse felt like the appropriate cornerstone to our new look.” -Marc Hartog, Founder of ART3
Alongside our transition into the world of ‘Very Peri’, we have been busy behind the scenes building an entirely new look for both our Journal and our Drops page on ART3.io. These new layouts allow our community to browse all of our standing collections and editorial content with ease. You will also now find a master gallery where you can filter all of our curated drops between collection, market and format.
We at ART3, are very excited to reveal our new outfit of choice and we are now asking our community to join us in living the ‘Very Peri’ message and exploring the world of digital art, a horizon bright and full of opportunity. Together we will learn, create and collaborate as we continue to explore photography in the Metaverse.
