In Focus: Assembly Curated launch a new Web3 Platform

Reading Time: 2 minutes

Assembly Curated’s dedicated Web3 marketplace is here, presenting focused collections of the most important photographers of the 20th and 21st centuries.

Co-founded in 2021 by Ashlyn Davis Burns (formerly Houston Center for Photography) and Shane Lavalette (formerly Light Work), Assembly represents a diverse roster of artists and is equally a gallery, agency, creative studio and, now, Web3 platform.

An early entrant to the NFT space for fine art photography, Assembly has been stewarding the creation and collection of genesis projects by photographers, from icons such as Alec Soth to mid-career artists like Rodrigo Valenzuela. This curated program is now being extended to the new platform through collaborations with some of the most respected galleries, agencies, and publishers in the field.

Projects will launch on Wednesdays at 11:11am EST, beginning with new work by Daniel Gordon (live now), created specifically for the blockchain. Gordon’s Moving/Still expands on the artist’s well-known exploration of the still life through images that move beyond the suggestion of multiple perspectives, showing the passage of time and space through movement.

Forthcoming collections include One Star and a Dark Voyage, the genesis collection from acclaimed photographer Barbara Bosworth, and For Freedoms’ inaugural project reinterpreting the iconic Norman Rockwell illustrations for our current era.

Assembly Curated joins several other burgeoning platforms to leverage the qualities and values of the fine art world while connecting artists and the institutions that support them with new audiences through collections that preserve the artistic process, context, and ultimately, the long-term value of the work on the blockchain; ahead of the predicted “Summer of NFT photography”.
